Katy Perry’s Four Legged Red Carpet Friend

Katy Perry, who is one of America’s most celebrated singer – actress – songwriters, has an adorable four-legged friend that goes on tour with her, walks the red carpet with her and even has her own adoring fans on social media.

“Butters” is the gorgeous sienna colored lapdog that has captured the heart of the pop superstar, who has sold more than 11 million albums and over 81 million singles since her 2008 album debut, “One For the Boys.”

Over 36 million fans – many of them pet lovers – follow Katy on Instagram. Each time she posts a new photo or video of Butters, thousands of her fans will like and write adoring comments about the cute and cuddly celebrity pooch, within a matter of minutes. One photo of Katy holding Butters in her arms, while wearing a pink custom-made pair of pajamas with Butter’s image printed on the fabric, has already received 731,000 likes.

Butters is a “Cavoodle” which is a designer breed of lapdog. They are a mixture of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle. Cavoodle’s became popular in Australia nearly two decades ago, for the following three reasons:

#1 This breed of dog almost never sheds, which is beneficial to allergy sufferers

#2 Their personalities tend to be easy to get along with and child-friendly

#3 Cavoodle’s are small enough to make taking trips and running errands with them manageable.

Katy is also one of many celebrities that use their ability to reach large audiences, to help raise money and awareness for good causes. Her love for animals has led her to become a supporter of “The Humane Society,” which is America’s largest animal protection organization.

The Humane Society provides hands-on care and services to more than 100,000 animals each year. The organization fights for change in the U.S. and around the world by combating large-scale cruelties such as puppy mills, animal fighting, factory farming, seal slaughter, horse cruelty, captive hunts and the wildlife trade.

In 2012, Katy was honored at the Celebration of Dreams Gala in her native Santa Barbara, California, for her contributions to charity, including The Humane Society.
